UPDATE - Nov 20, 2012
I started this over 3 years ago and just updating it now, time flew by! For me, it was tough finding things to like about San Diego but here are some things, places, and foods I do truly love and miss (no praticular order).
1. Complaining about the lameness of San Diego
2. Lestats passion fruit ice tea - cheap, delicious, and refreshing
3. All the great friends I made there
4. Urban Solace - pot de creme...yummy
5. Mystic Mocha - amazing breakfasts and great cup of coffee
6. Swami's Beach in Encinitas
7. Synchronized swimming with the cutest old ladies at the Mission Valley YMCA
8. Working Friday nights with Doug and Stephanie at the Wine Encounter
9. ummm*
10. double umm*
*will update soon

About 1 year ago one of my best friends sent me on a mission to discover 10 great things about San Diego. I can't believe its almost been a year and I've got nada to show for it. I went to the beach, I went to the museums, took a hike, I sampled the downtown scene, and looked around. After the first month I realized that San Diego is pretty much an over commercialized, faux and lazy Los Angeles, with a starbucks, applebee's, and borders every few miles. The people here are subdued by sunshine and drive so slow that even my mom took notice.
I love Los Angeles. The history, the population, downtown on a sunday, the mismatched city, the freeways, the amazing radio stations, the metro system, book readings, bookstores, late night cafes, a good deli, LA Weekly, great music scene, the wannabe actors coming off the bus, the cheap activities and free stuff to do, the high energy, the movie theaters, the culture, etc.
Granted, people like it here, I'd even go so far to say that people love it here, so there has to be something I'm missing. In my defense, these peoples usually tend to originate from Arkansas or Minnesota, so in my opinion, they lack perspective.
So I decided to start this blog for my family and friends to force myself to at least be able to list 7 cool things about San Diego and shed my LA snobbery.
Photos, little stories, my top 10 list, and other tid-bits of life in between to update everyone!

Cousin you are right there is nothing to like there except for its general proximity to LA.
I hope you enjoy yourself while you are there, but as a wise woman once said "Im not moving from this couch."
Well, I don't know much about San Diego, but I do enjoy visiting from time to time. I'm glad you're starting a blog : ) It will be nice to keep in touch this way!
hope to see you soon,
